Finally, it should be noted that there are two ways of listening to Descended Like Vultures. I, being the reviewer, was also sent press releases telling me what inspired this record. But I prefer to come into a new work unbiased by any "clues" to its meaning until after I have completed it once. I don't want to guess the end before even seeing/hearing the beginning. So (HEY WAIT, STOP READING RIGHT NOW IF YOU'RE LIKE ME), all of the reactions above are based on non-press-release related knowledge. Yes, there are hints of the political on this album, but without knowing this from the press material, I didn't sense them. I felt what I felt. I've already read far too many reviews which choose to ignore this lovely album for its artistic value and instead evaluate it merely for the messages lurking within. When you listen to this record, instead of quickly picking it apart like vultures (so to speak), please take the time to digest a sweet piece of pop dessert.
