CD REVIEW: Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Soundtrack

Well... where do I start with this masterpiece of mixed up musical gems?
Going into this I knew that this soundtrack (If you want to call it that)
would be something hard to wrap my ears around — and I was right. The
good thing about it is for the most part I enjoyed the task.

See, when you purchase this disk you have to go into it with an open mind
and a general appreciation of all types of music. If you are only into
rap and not rock, or you are into country but not R&B then a good portion
of this disk will just simply piss you off. Stick with albums and compilations
that you know are safe and palatable for your particular tastes. If you are
like me — someone that likes everything from Sushi to Captain Crunch — then
listening to a compilation like this will give you a lot of varied flavor
in your music listening experience.

This two disk set is actually a scaled down version of the larger eight disk
box set version. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to listen to the
box set version but I assume that the two disks enclosed are someones personal
"best of" list of all the songs included on the game soundtrack. Word is
that the eight disk collection doesn't even contain all the songs included
on the actual game which is surprising.

Anyway, back to the task at hand. The songs included on this disk are essentially
a fun way to change channels on your radio without touching the dial. If you
don't mind going from Eddie Money to Cypress Hill and then back to
The Maytals version of Pressure Drop then you need to get this disk right now.

Other stand out surprises in my opinion are as follows: Rage Against the machine -
Killing in the name, Slick Rick - Children's Story,
Compton's Most Wanted - Hood took me under, Willie Nelson - Crazy
and AFI performing the bonus track Head like a hole.

    Yensid,

I threw this up on Advance.net. I fixed the formatting which you may want to address here as well. I might get to it tomorrow if you don't.

If you are committed to good "first draft" you might want to look over the copy on Advance.net and see the small changes - and sometimes big changes. The big changes are almost always done for space, however. NB: I'm posting this message to all reviews, not singling you out at all. :-)

I reviewed the Driver soundtrack to a game earlier this year and it is harder if you've never played the game (or frigging heard of it).
