I know, why don't we lobby to get the building named as a historical landmark. That way we can save the building and while destroying what it stands for. We could make it a sort of B.B. King's-feel. But downtown instead of Times Square.

I find the fact that the building is controlled by a homeless shelter funny, sad, and fitting

Hilly Kristal gave all us original bands a place to play back in the early seventies, back when disco was all the rage and there were few if any venues for original acts. While our band (STUARTS HAMMER) never made it, Hilly was willing to take a chance with us (and other young bands) and gave us to record on the original Live At CBGB's. Thank GOd for peole like Hilly who are willing to take a chance and promote new and different talent. It will be a real shame if they close him down.

thanks Mike, I remember you guys from the collection!
Kee-razy. I'm still debating whether to catch some of these concerts.... don't know whether it'll be cool or depressing to see them in their 40s....

I had a punk clothing store on St. Marks Pl. in the late 70’s & 80’s. I did clothing for Blondie made Joey Ramones leather jacket among others. I was a regular at CBGB’s and now an era is gone. But all is not lost. I have just resurrected my look with a new website www.natashanyc.com. Come visit and view the old and the new. Natasha
