Here is a video montage featuring some of the highlights of the Magic tour thus far. These videos, all pro-shot, have all been featured on Springsteen's official homepage.
Update: The status of Danny Federici's health and his leave of absence from the tour was confirmed on Wednesday morning in an official statement, which reads as follows:
Danny Federici, an original member of the E Street Band, is taking a leave of absence from the current Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tour to pursue treatment for melanoma. Charles Giordano, who played with Bruce as a member of the Sessions Band, will temporarily fill in for Danny until he is able to return. Federici has been playing keyboards with Springsteen since the late Sixties. Said Springsteen, "Danny is one of the pillars of our sound and has played beside me as a great friend for more than 40 years. We all eagerly await his healthy and speedy return."
Federici has been actively supporting the Melanoma Research Foundation and its Wings of Hope Gala, honoring Dr. Paul Chapman.
Our best wishes go out to the family of Danny Federici.

Good work, Glen. I was conflicted about whether or not to mention these growing rumors about Brother Dan when I did my story about the tour dates over at Fanboy. I'm glad you discussed it in your piece here.
Bruce has spoken about how amazing it is that they've been able to keep the same core lineup for all these years. Not many rock bands can boast that. The possibility that one of them might have to be left behind for the first time is really sad. I think most of us were expecting it to be Clarence who would first have to make an exit. This is all just too sad.
On a MUCH, MUCH less significant note, I'll be disappointed if he's not able to be apart of my first E-Street Band show. Obviously what's most important here is the man's overall health. Here's to hoping he just needs a rest while they're in Europe. Here's to hoping that if he does have to retire it's only because touring is too grueling and not because there is something severely or terminally wrong with him.
God Bless, Brother Dan, Springsteen Nation's got your back.

Man, nothing for the real midwest? Am in Denver, and there is no Denver, Albuquerque, Wyoming, Nebraska. Basically, nowhere even within a days drive to see the boss.
What, am I gonna drive to Texas? Not likely, good sir, not likely at all.

"nothing for the real midwest?"
you probably should have got more folks to vote for change, Lono.

Atlanta is about the only stop in the South, as well. I guess he's taking '04 personally. Good thing we got Atlanta tickets.

For any who didn't hear, the Federici health rumors and his leave of absense from the tour were confirmed earlier today in an official statement, which reads as follows:

Woe. Hope Brother Federici has a speedy recovery and return. A presto, Danny!
Me and my buddy drove to Ottawa and saw them ride in on the Magic tour. They were excellent: crisp, fun and energetic.
Just plain awesome.

I wish Danny boy a speedy recovery as well. I had no idea about his health rumors when I went to the Monday show (his last for a while as it turned out) and didn't find out he had melanoma 'til Wednesday, but I was wondering why Nils kept coming up to his area all night to play beside him. I wondered why there were some "Danny Danny" chants at the end of the night. Now it all makes sense as I look back.
If you didn't see the show, it wasn't the greatest set list ever but it was definitely the most unique and jam-heavy Springsteen show I've ever attended (I've seen him live with or without his band six times now).
It was a mix of the new and the REALLY old, including rarely played songs like the "E Street Shuffle" and other songs from that album and era where Federici really shined. The bluesy "Reason to Believe," "Sandy (4th of July)" and "Kitty's Back" were also played this night. From a musician's point-of-view, watching those 10 E Streeters play their butts off was awe-inspiring, even at their advanced age.

It sounds like an amazing setlist to me Charlie. In addition to that, you also may have witnessed a little E Street history -- sadly so, as it turns out though. Like you, I will be keeping Danny and his family in my prayers. Thanks for commenting.

I was standing right in front of stage on Monday in Boston and also did not know of Danny's illness until after the show. It was a great show, with a fantastic set list, and the chanting for Danny was overdue, illness or not, and was warm and seemed to touch both Danny and Bruce. My best wishes for Danny for a full and speedy recovery!

I'm in there too!!! very cool.

...OOops. The book that is!

does anybody know the play set for bruce's upcoming 2008 tour? same as in 2007????
22 - Glen Boyd
Springsteen changes up the setlist at least a little every night Mathias. My guess is there will probably some tour debuts, a few suprises, and that most shows will begin with Radio Nowhere, and feature at least seven or so songs from Magic. In other words, it wont be that different from the shows last year. If you can go to multiple shows, I'd recommend it -- I'm doing Seattle and Portland next month myself.

i hope they continue to finish each song with "American Lang" becase it's a great song and also happens to piss of the snarky anti-Seeger fans.
it's like Bruce doing the Pogues!

glen,
thanks. i know he mixes it up a little every night. its great to hear that it most likely wont be different from the tour in 2007. it was the best springsteen concert ever. and i have seen in since the early 90's....
thanks man...
