Bob Dylan Giveaway!

Blogcritics, Columbia Records, and Legacy Recordings are pleased to host a giveaway promoting the release of Dylan, the definitive Bob Dylan collection. The grand prize is a Dylan leather iPod case, a Dylan poster, and a copy of the single CD with selected tracks. The two runners-up will win a poster and a CD.

Blogcritic Glen Boyd writes, "Boiling the entire career of someone like Bob Dylan down to a compilation, even spread over three discs, is a ridiculous proposition by any stretch — there are just too many great songs to really fit. But far from being merely another album of Dylan's greatest hits, Dylan comes about as close to succeeding as can be reasonably expected."

How to enter the Bob Dylan giveaway:

  • Only one entry per person/household.
  • Entries must be received by October 24, 2007.

Glen, you cannot POSSIBLY be serious.

In fact, this box set really IS "merely another album of Dylan's greatest hits" and DOES NOT "come about as close to succeeding as can be reasonably expected."

The choices are completely uninteresting and the add-ons are less than worthless.

If you want a real Dylan box set, there is absolutely no substitute for "Biograph." I bought it on cassette and wore it out. A week ago I went on iTunes to try to cherry-pick the stuff on it that isn't on the other Dylan albums I have: there were something like 20 songs or alternate versions you can't find elsewhere.

It's a generous and imaginative box set, perfect for the neophyte or the seasoned veteran.

    Pass up this new crap.

My three-CD Biograph was the first thing I thought of.

Guys, if you want to debate Glen over his opinion of the new set, please take it up with him on his article. Posting your comments here is likely to fall on deaf ears, as frankly I personally can't think of single song I'd like to hear Dylan sing (covers of Dylan's songs are an entirely different matter).

    Come on Glen!
You throw Neil Young under the bus and now you're pushing Dylans hash/rehash?

    What gives?

All I have to say is that there is a really good foundation under this guys house. We're getting a bit old now. He may have a couple of squeeky doors, even a broken window or two but he's got a pretty solid home with lots of equity!
