NOTE: It would be unjust if I didn't point you to the earlier and far superior review of this record provided by the illustrious Carl Abernathy at Cahl's Juke Joint (a great blog to visit if you dig blues, rock and jazz). See what Mr. Abernathy has to say about The Lady And Mr. Johnson.

Listen - Cross Road Blues
Listen - Terraplane Blues
Listen - 32-20 Blues
Listen - Rambling On My Mind

The mp3's provided above are ripped at low bit rates and are available for only about a week.

Block is a great player. what a strange experience (for me anyway) to see her play live. i mean, here's this more than just a little bit attractive woman, one you wouldn't be surprised to see in a swanky martini bar...who sits down and tears up some grizzled country blues.

Well done, Pico. I didn't get to hear this record so I wound up not voting in this category. Her BMA win and your enthusiasm for it has me adding it to my wishlist.
