Like any hip-hop band, the Bloodhound Gang uses samples in its music. Now they are using visual samples from the Department of Homeland Security site, combined with thir own special captions, to create a new line of t-shirts, ReadyWear.
Frontman Jimmy Pop concedes he's "always one to find humor in the wrong places," and adds, "Last year, Paris runways bubbled over with polka dots, this year, terrorism will be the tendance du moment!"
The tees come in 3 designs derived from Homeland Security symbols: "French People" from chemical attack, "Billie Jean Is Not My Lover" nuclear explosion, and "Texas Is The Reason" radiation threat or "dirty bomb."
They're all the rage down in the bunker. The creepiness of the air raid era returns - I remember hiding under my desk at school in the "kiss your ass goodbye" position, as if covering my head with my hands would somehow prevent instant incineration. Surviving that - say the attack was many miles away - I remember visions of debris sticking out of my back like a pin cushion or a porcupine. Ah, the cold war.
