BC Podcast - The Mondo Radio Thing Episode 3 - "The Best One Ever!"

Part of: Mondo Radio

Disclaimer - The Mondo Irlando Podcast contains more swearwords than one may find socially acceptable. A multitude of F's, plenty of Shit's, and even one or two C's get flung around the airwaves like nobody's business. If in doubt, do not listen, is what.

Mondo Irlando and Blogcritics spit Episode Three - The Best One Ever of The Mondo Irlando Podcast Thing into your digital teeth.

This week;

A highly scientific experiment concerning File Sharing and a Mystery Celebrity Guest!

Up-to-the-second coverage of The Michael Jackson Trial!

Another Great Break Up Record!

And music from The Libertines, The Proclaimers, Billy Bragg, Picture House and The Manic Street Preachers, amongst others!

Can you afford to miss it even for one second? As the fuck If.

As ever, all you need to do is right-click for to save the MP3, or left-click for to listen online. Podcast, in this case, is just a fancy term for "Something so foul and so shockingly fucking brilliant that no real radio station would touch it."

though the brogue wears me out after awhile, The Proclaimers have any number of really great, touching, powerful even, songs. They made sincere cool again

fantastic! you'll be glad to know they haven't made a solitary bad album, although if you were to push me, i would say Hit The Highway was a bit dissapointing. But even it's filled with wonder.

Eric, and also made wearing big thick glasses and cardigans cool again. Well, they did it, anyhow. How great, in an era of peroxide posing fools to see a couple geeky twins with cardigans standing on a stage again? fantastic.

incidentally, what did you make of the other selections? the picture house and so on? i think they're wonderful, and yet you can't even grab their stuff on amazon. absurd. they do sound a bit like a much poppier REM

mark, me too. that cover was from Lipstick Traces - A Secret History Of The Manic Street Preachers (and not A Secret History Of Man as the amazon link would have it) but i forget to say that in the show thing.

its a great compilation actually. loads of b-sides and the second disc is all covers, from the really good like Skinheads... to the really rather shit like Been A Son by Nirvana.

Finally got to listen to this. Bloody brilliant, Duke...

But please, man, we need a playlist, preferably with Duke-o-vision (Credit: Eric Olsen) annotations...

thanks eric! Yeah, i've considered a playlist, but then i thought it would spoil the suprise. And also, there's a certain track on there which you'll remember was suggested via email (according to the presenter. shifty fucker. i dont trust him) which i felt, if advertised as being on there, might well lead folks to think "well, there's another reason for ignoring it, then."

Maybe post the list for #3 when you release #4 (or something)?

I just know that when I hear a song I like, I want to have ready access to the name/band.

An aside: I worked for this bizarro company in San Francisco for a little while. The concept was: you hear a song on the radio and you think, "Wow, I love that song. I would like to know the name of it." Well, you would dial up a number, and the computer would tell you what the song was. That was the company.

My job? I listened to the radio all day, and would digitally mark the beginnings and endings of songs. Yes, it's even less glamorous than it sounds. What I really wound up doing was listening to large chunks of The Howard Stern Show.

I should have known the company was doomed because it was a media company run by former managers of Clorox. Anyway, I bailed out soon enough to get back on the slippery slope of the dot-com bust-death ride, and Buzz Hits was no more a few short months hence (/ aside).

that sounds like THE BEST idea for a company EVER. my word.

what i might do now actually is put the songlist here, just a quicky one.

The Libertines - "The Boy Looked At Johnny" (from Up The Bracket)

Picture House - S"omebody Somewhere (remix)" (from Shine Box)

The Proclaimers - "Hate My Love" (from Born Innocent)

Aaron McMullan -cough- - "Goth Girls Turn Me On" (from Songs From The Back Room )

The Manic Streets Preachers - "Take The Skinheads Bowling" (from Lipstick Traces, A Secret History Of The Manic Street Preachers)

next week i'll do one in the post. I know it sucks when you wanna know who's playin, and you can't really enjoy it until you know.

    Thanks Duke.

And no one wants to be the dumbass who doesn't know the names of the cool ass songs and thus is the ultra music non-cool outcast guy.
