This week's edition is full of audio and video treats from a wide variety of artists. We have a country legend, a would be American Idol winner, and a couple of pop rock songstresses. To top it off, we've thrown in some rap and R&B for good measure. So kick back and relax and check out some of the hottest streaming and embedded audio and video out there.
To start things off, Sony BMG sent over streams of the brand new singles from Pink and David Archuleta.PinkPink's new album won't be available until October 28, but the new single, "So What" made a splash onto the airwaves, and we have a stream for our readers. The album will follow up her 2006 release I'm Not Dead and the single is already getting massive airplay in Australia. Pink, a two time Grammy-winning artist, jumped into the musical fray back in 2000 with her debut Can't Take Me Home. Along with the three albums that followed, she has sold 23 million records world wide. The artist is also known for her active role with PETA and has used her fame to speak out against animal cruelty. She's also been linked to Tales From The Crypt by one of our music editors, but that's a different story altogether.David ArchuletaAmerican Idol runner up David Archuleta is releasing his first single, "Crush". From very early on in the competition, Archuleta was considered a shoe-in to walk away with the top prize, but in the season finale David Cook took the honors. Before American Idol, Archuleta also competed on Star Search where he finished as the Junior Vocal Champion on season two. Check out BC Magazine staff writer Sherrie Lipp's interview with David.Joe Thomas"Why Just Be Friends" is the first single from his upcoming album, Joe Thomas, New Man.
The album is the first for the artist since parting ways with his former label and producer R Kelly who had been accused of attempting to sabotage his career (among other things for which he's since been acquitted but again, that's another story altogether). The album is due September 26, but that doesn't mean you have to wait to hear the song. Check out the embedded video of "Why Just Be Friends" below:Amie MirielloThe debut album from Amie Miriello, I Came Around will be available September 2, but you can listen to streams from three songs from the album right here and now. It's obvious from the clips that Miriello's sound is light pop/rock, but this artist's real strength is in her songwriting. On her MySpace Profile she says it's her favorite part about the entire process. But you can judge for yourself. Listen to "I Came Around" (the first single), "Coldfront", and "Brand New", all from the album I Came Around.Killer MikeKiller Mike teamed up with Ice Cube to bring you "Pressure." In the BC Music Goodie Bag, you can stream the video through Quicktime or MySpace. Hailed as one of the scariest videos of our time, it is a very gritty look at the current state of the world.Glen CampbellEver wondered what the end result would be if a country artist covered a modern day post-grunge song. Look no further.
