Elliot Yamin – "Fight For Love"
Back during the fifth season of American Idol, Simon Cowell called Elliot Yamin a "vocal masterclass." That's quite a compliment, coming from the tough judge who is known for speaking his mind, and it's well deserved. You would never know that the one-time drugstore clerk had never had vocal training before going on to nearly win the competition, coming in third behind Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee.
Fight for Love is his sophomore release, following up the debut, self-titled album that notably became the top-selling debut album from an independent artist in the history of Billboard.
The lead single and title song, "Fight for Love," is being released today, and you can get a sneak-peak listen here in the BC Goodie Bag.
On the track, Yamin shared writing credits with Johnta Austin, who has also worked with Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, and Usher. The album is due to hit shelves as well as online and digital outlets May 5. In the meantime, you can check out Yamin's official website for news and information.
Kicksville - Season 1
Not heard of Kicksville yet? I have a feeling that is about to change. Not really a band, they are more like a collective of artists and musicians; and what they are putting out is hard to categorize, unless of course you have a box labeled prog-metal-dub-industrial-jam.
The album, Season 1, contains 13 songs including covers of songs by Led Zeppelin, The Police, Willie Dixon, and Talking Heads. The tracks have been digitally released, one per week, over the past 13 weeks, but BC Music Goodie Bag has a couple of tracks you can stream right here, right now.
Beginning next week, look for SXSW announcements and 'quick tours around MySpace' here in the Goodie Bag.
