BC Music Goodie Bag has been AWOL since the holiday season, but now we're back with more audio and visual treats for your ears and eyes.
This week we have three singles from known artists who are kicking off upcoming releases, and two snippets from one that is most likely hitting just below your radar. However, after you get a listen to the Kicksville tracks, I think you'll be searching for more from these guys. It's definitely cutting-edge stuff!
Peter Yorn – "Don't Want to Cry"
June 23 is the release date for the fourth album from Peter Yorn, Back and Forth. According to the PR, it marks a "new musical chapter" as Yorn has "taken a different approach" to songwriting. Only time will tell if different equals better, but if the preview of the first single, "Don't Wanna Cry" is any indication, I think this is going to be a not-to-be-missed release.
Speaking on this new process, Yorn said, "I wanted to share my songs with a group of players who I respected, and then share the experience of recording them together as a group.” The song has a moody, singer/songwriter style to it and is chuck full of torn emotions and loss.
You can stream "Don't Wanna Cry" from Spinner. Take a listen; I don't think you'll be disappointed.
As for that upcoming album Back And Fourth, here is a track listing:
1. Don’t Wanna Cry
2. Paradise Cove
3. Close
4. Social Development
5. Shotgun
6. Last Summer
7. Thinking of You
8. Country
9. Four Years
10. Long Time
You can learn more about Peter Yorn and his upcoming events at his website and MySpace page.
Papa Roach – "Lifeline"
The new single, "Lifeline," from the upcoming Metamorphosis is zooming it's way up the charts, breaking the Top 20 on both active and alternative radio. To help give the song a big push, the band filmed a video with director Chris Sims, known for his work with Jimmy Eat World, in Long Beach, CA.
Metamorphosis will be released March 24 and is the fourth album from this alternative rock band. Their first album, Infest, went platinum three times over and that success paved the way for Lovehatetragedy in 2002 and Getting Away With Murder in 2004. Check out the video below and I think you'll get a good idea why they have sold more than 10 million records.
