Band Of The Week: Attic Lights - Page 3

Part of: Band of the Week

Kev: “Country” Mark...

Tim: “Country” Mark Stewart, in fact, he now plays for the band The Sky At Night. And he brought it back for me and I taught myself to play it, really.

Jamie: It was kind of really weird. We had spoken about it, that a pedal steel would beColin, Kev and Jamie great for our sound because we've got a real Neil Young influence. Because for a while we were a wee bit country but recently we have been...I don't know, lookin' for a wee bit more...I don't know...'60s-ish, Specter-ish type sound. We've dabbled in country, we've dabbled in this or that.  Tim came out of the night in Glasgow and basically offered us his services. Which we thought was really random. Because if someone offers you their services in Glasgow they are wanting paid. (Laughter)

Colin: We still get labeled a lot as a country band. It's because we have a pedal steel player and harmonies.

Kev: Lazy journalism!

Colin: That is lazy journalism. (laughter)

Jamie: Yeah, a pedal steel player and a few harmonies and we're country.

Kev: And then Colin snogged (kissed) my mother.

You snogged his mother?!

Colin: Well she is a very beautiful woman! Very attractive!

All: She is, she is very beautiful...very beautiful...

Kev: HEY! (all laugh)

Tim: She is...Kev's mother has a very beautiful face.

Colin: And her body as well.

Kev: HEY!! Come on, for God's sake!! Back off! (laughingly)

Tim: You started it!

Kev: Yeah I know but...

Jamie: For God's Sake! No, no...I've got to draw the line here. She is nothing of the sort. (laughter)

Kev: HEY!!!

Colin: Let's move on here shall we.

Noel: Jamie's on TV almost everyday. He's the face of STV (Scottish Television).

Are you?!

Jamie: No. Not the face of it. Och...No, that's a boring story.

No. Let's hear it.

Jamie: It's Scottish Television. They have those wee branding bits...wee...what do you call them? The wee in-betweeny bits.

Colin: Indents? Or promos?

Idents.

Jamie: Yeah, those wee idents. On Scottish Television, you know between programmes they have a huge S that passes from one side of screen to the other. I'm in one. That's my wee claim to fame.

Colin: My sister makes the adverts.

Kev: Come on Colin! Give him is moment!

Jamie: Yeah!

Where is Attic Lights headed? I understand you have been offered a publishing deal?
