AOL will be restructuring and as a result of this plans to cut 5,000 jobs from its workforce. The jobs represent around 26% of AOL’s 19,000 jobs. The announcement comes of the heels of AOL’s plan to make instant messaging, email and other services available for free to users with broadband access.
Next month REM plans to release a CD and DVD that charts the bands early music. And I Feel Fine...The Best of the I.R.S. Years 1982-1987 will be available on two separate CD formats. The single CD format will contain songs like “The End of the World as We Know (And I Feel Fine) and their debut single “Radio Free Europe”. The special edition will come with a bonus disc containing such things as rarities and alternate takes. The DVD When The Light Is Mine.. The Best Of I.R.S. Years 1982-1987 Video Collection will contain among other things 18 clips of previously unreleased TV appearances.
Mozilla, Google And Real Make Deal
RealNetworks Inc. And Google have extended a multi-year deal that will involve promoting Google software over Real’s multimedia products. In addition to this Mozilla has agreed with Google and Real to distribute the Firefox browser with Real’s RealPlayer audio and video software and a Google toolbar.
