Annika Bentley has drawn quite heavily it seems from Tori Amos on this latest offering entitled, “With Leak Blink and Breath”. Too bad her lyrics are mindless, pointless drivel and extremely unimaginative.
The album—and I use the word album loosely here—starts off with an attempt at haunting vocals which comes across a lot less like vocals and more just like haunting. The piano is so mundane in this release it is barely worth mentioning. Not only are the lyrics, instrumentation and timing bad on this CD, the mastering and production are unprofessional and very “tinny”.
Overall, if you like Tori Amos and her heartfelt piano art rock, go and buy one of her CD’s, Annika Bentley is not a substitute for her or for any other reputable musician with talent.
Lyrics- F (One song just repeats musical terminology over and over—this isn’t poetry or lyrics—this is stupidity.)
Objectionable Content-F (I find the fact that this band was given a chance to make a CD objectionable.)
Overall Album-D- ( I have yet to give an F for an overall album. I find very little hope that I could find an album worse than this effort, but in case I do I am leaving this disc at a D-, just in case.)
