Two-time Grammy winner Ali Farka Toure died after a long illness on Tuesday. Toure won his first Grammy for “Talking Timbuktu” on which he collaborated with Ry Cooder. His second Grammy was for “In the Heart of the Moon” on which he performed with Toumani Diabate. Toure palyed the traditional Malian instrument the gurkel. He died in his home in Bamako, Mali.
Amazon in talks for movie and TV downloads
Amazon.com is holding talks with three Hollywood movie studios to create a service that would allow users to download movies and copy them on to DVDs. Amazon is in talks with Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, and Warner Brothers. No timetable has been given for when the service will be available.
Red Hat has released an update for its Linux product that supports 64-processor x86 services. This update has taken Linux to multiprocessor levels previously reserved for the Unix operating system. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is the leading commercial version of the popular open source operating system and with the update Red Hat added a preview of OpenIB InfiniBand software that is used to link many machines into a computing cluster.
