Adios Nonino...and more

Adios Nonino: Astor Piazzolla y su Quinteto

Astor Piazzolla is an innovative artist who takes tango music into this lovely and seductive mood. I found this CD to uphold the fine tradition Piazzolla has established with tango music, blending it with fine precision and emotion. This album also shows some fine maturity on the piano work here - truly creating drama in this pieces.....I'm quite fond of last track on this CD: "Final." "Fugata" - has some nice piano work on it as well.

I had my first tates of Piazzolla, off a Starbucks compilation album - the track:
Milonga Del Angel, ASTOR PIAZZOLLA - from the album Tango: Zero Hour. It totally got under my skin - how it started off sweet and romantic and it built into this amazingly urgent crescendo - you could hear the harmony dance playfully through those passionate strings. It was a moving piece and an amazing introduction to Piazolla's music.

I also recomend checking out Yo Yo Ma's Classic Yo Yo - for another lovely Piazzolla tango.

I really like the recordings that Al Dimeola has been doing of Piazolla's music in recent years. It and Al seem to be good for each other.
