A return to form

One All
Neil Finn
(Nettwerk)

Neil is back with a new solo album of stellar tracks. The man behind Split Enz and Crowded House has finally released a solo set worthy of his name. This is brilliant from start to finish, and while it may not be accessible as either of his two former bands, still retains that hooky appeal that is necessary. There is no sign of Tim Finn on here, but Neil's son and wife show up on most tracks. The album has a very acoustic feel to it and is very much, for the most part, a back to basics album. As with any good album it drags you in and keeps you there. After here the less-than-spectacular 'Two Worlds Collide' I thought the man had lost his way. If you have never picked up any of the man's post-CH material then this is the place to start.
