I cannot think of what was more worrisome for me ... being away from my computer for an extended amount of time. Or, being brave enough to go out and watch a thrash metal concert. Either way, both were a first for me. To shake a bit of my nerves I decided to take a few moments to talk to a few of the fans that were attending the concert. But I thought before I do that, I will arrive very early, before anyone showed up so that I may find a place somewhere safe so I can see everything and everyone who would come at me.
Well, when I arrived at the arena, three of the fans were already there, waiting. Since I was already out there, I decided to do something else I never would do normally: I struck up a conversation in a not-so-journalistic fashion. ... After my stutteringly nervous introduction, I asked my first question of the night.
AIDYs: What band are you guys here to see?
Fan #1 Megadeth.
Fan #2 Slayer
Fan #3 Anthrax. I am most excited to be seeing Anthrax because, of course, you know that Joey Belladonna is back--if for no other reason, I am here to see him.
AIDYs: Belladonna's your favorite, then?
Fan #3 Yeah, though Slayer has so many albums, I cannot wait to see them as well.
-All at once-
Fan #1 They all have a lot of albums, what are you talking about?
Fan #2 All the bands have a lot of albums--
Fan #1 Yeah, that's what I meant.
AIDYs: How long have you been listening to the bands?
Fan #3 Since middle school...
Fan #1 That's like 21+ years ... since I been in middle school...
Fan #3 Yeah, but I still listen to them
Fan #1 At least since the '80s, yeah.
-All together-
"About the same time."
(laughter)
AIDYs: You know or can name all the members of the band?
-All at once-
"Yeah, we can name them all!"
AIDYs: Tell me about tonight, what do you all expect? I don't know what all to expect?

Nice approach to this, AIDYs. It's good to shatter our misconceptions by heading facefirst into the fray, isn't it?

Jordan, I agree. I had a great time.
