Although they haven't been under the spotlight for long, Steel Magnolia has already been recognized by the country world. Their claim to fame was winning season two of Can You Duet on CMT. Steel Magnolia's, consisting of Joshua Scott Jones and Meghan Linsey, single "Keep On Lovin' You" was featured on the movie Valentine's Day's soundtrack. The single made it into top 15 hit. It's the highest charting debut single for a country duo since 2007.

In addition, Steel Magnolia is up for two ACM awards: Top New Vocal Duo and Top Vocal Duo. The 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 18th at 8 pm ET/ 7 pm CT live on CBS. You can vote for them to win Top New Vocal Duo until March 12.

Their first CD is due out in early summer 2010 under the label Big Machine Records. In the meantime, Steel Magnolia has produced an EP. The EP includes 5 songs: "Keep On Lovin' You," "Ooh La La," "I Need You," "Fast as You" and "Edge of Goodbye."

"Keep On Lovin' You" is probably their most well-known song. It's catchy and cute. This is the song that got them noticed and for a good reason too. This song is absolutely amazing.

"Ooh La La" is fun and flirty. I really love the melody on this song. It would be a great song to wake up to or to listen to on the way to work.

The most interesting thing about "I Need You" is the same song was done by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The versions are very different, but I like Steel Magnolia's better. The melody's softer and it's a really tender song. The love between Jones and Linsey is obvious.

"Fast as You" is a particular fast song. (Not surprising, obviously.) It's a lot faster than some of the other songs. Both Jones' and Linsey's voices are very strong. Some of the notes are really hard to hit. It's a very passionate song too. It's easy to understand the passion in their voices. Simon Cowell would be impressed.

The last song "Edge of Goodbye" is probably my favorite. Something sets it apart from the rest of the songs. It's slow compared to "Fast as You," but it's not too slow. Songs that are too slow make people fall asleep and no one would fall asleep during this song. This is the song that will definitely get stuck in my head.

The EP is available on iTunes for only $4.49. Not a bad deal, especially for a band who has the talent to make it big.
