MSN Music to Stop Selling Downloads

MSN Music has announced it will stop selling downloads and, instead, redirect those interested in purchasing music to RealNetwork’s Rhapsody site or the Zune Marketplace. Starting on November 14, where there now is a “buy” button on artist and album pages, users will find the links. Microsoft has a makeover planned for the website, shifting its focus to live events such as concerts, as well as interviews and other music oriented content.

New Site to Measure Most Blogged About Videos

A new website called viral video chart is set to be launched. The website will monitor the popularity of viral videos and hopes to have the most up-to-date information on the videos that are causing the biggest blog buzz. The site aims to gather sources and give the definitive rundown of those videos, providing for online videos what Billboard Hot 100 does for music.
