Starring Doris Roberts as Mrs. Merkle a.k.a Mrs. Miracle, this film doesn’t let you down, but brings your spirit up to a celebratory level. This time Mrs. Miracle is an employee at one of the few family-owned department stores in New York City. It is also a struggling department store that’s not seeing the sales needed to remain in business for years to come. Not to mention that Mrs. Mirclae’s boss Jake (played by Eric Johnson) happens to be none other than the owner’s son.
While Mrs. Miracle works her magic on the sales floor she also works it by playing matchmaker to Jake and a beautiful young fashion assistant named Holly (played by Jewel Staite). Holly, who has guardianship of the nephew Gabe (played by Quinn Lord) while her brother is in Iraq, doesn’t see it coming when Mrs. Miracle works to ensure that Christmas is magical for everyone. Finley’s Department Store is financial trouble. Jake wants to sell the “old-school” toys while his father is just looking for the sales figures to rise and only wants to sell the newest and greatest toys on the market. One of those toys is the ever popular Intellytron robot. Although the store is failing, things are about to turn around. While no one exactly knows where Mrs. Miracle came from or who even hired her, she spins her charm and toys begin to sell faster than ever. Bringing love into the holiday season and turning a failing department store into a success is just an everyday miracle when Mrs. Merkle is around.
Jake and Holly have a connection but the pressures of working for bosses that are less then ideal make building a relationship seem impossible. That is until Mrs. Miracle steps in. The film delivers in story telling and in chemistry as viewers will find themselves pulled into the lives of these two individuals. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself rooting for them halfway throughthe film . Actress Lauren Holly plays Staite’s overbearing and vampy boss.
This is a great family movie that shows the power of love and the ability for miracles to happen if only you believe. If you love films that warm your heart and sooth your soul; then this is the one for you. Not to mention Doris Robert’s comedic genius and genuine personality shines through in a character that never lets you down. This is a film you’ll want to watch year after year because it just leaves you feeling good all over.
