Acclaim recently announced the official release of its first massively multiplayer online PC game, BOTS.
The game has been going through periods of closed and open beta testing in which more than 250,000 members have signed up to play the title. BOTS allows players to create a custom robot which they take into battle with parties of other players in real-time to combat evil robots infecting cyberspace. Players can also take to player vs. player arenas and battle one another in teams, free-for-alls or defend-the-base game modes.
The game is free to download and play and is financially maintained by advertising and in-game item purchasing. With the official release of Acclaim’s first game, the company’s official Web site has seen an update, which includes a shop in which players can purchase Acclaim Coins via credit card or bank account through PayPal or Click&Buy.
Special in-game items are purchased using the coins for pre-determined intervals of time. For players of the beta periods, the official release also means trans packs, wings and more special items have finally been implemented into the game.
Players can still modify their BOTS without paying for Acclaim Coins as the game will continue to utilize Gigas, the currency of the BOTS universe, for upgradeable items.
Players can register for free at botsgame.com.Powered by Sidelines
