Yet again, metal is under criticism in a murder case, this time in Scotland. It seems there are those who believe that shock-rock clown Marilyn Manson, the so-called “King of Fuck”, influenced someone into committing a gruesome murder.

MM quite rightly denies that his music might have influenced the young adult in question. He places the blame and responsibility for the murder on the boy in question and how he was raised.

“What I do know is that it is all about the education that parents give their children and the influences they receive, not putting the blame elsewhere,” he said.

When will lawyers and judges stop dragging music into murder trials? It makes them and the legal system look inherently daft.

One does have to wonder if there will ever be a case where someone sues a romantic balladeer for an ensuing unplanned pregnancy.
