Microsoft dodges Mydoom onslaught

Experts say a variant of the MyDoom virus that overwhelmed SCO (a Utah software company) was programmed to fire volleys of data from infected host computers at Microsoft’s website today. But there was no visible impact on the software giant which barely hiccupped after the worm’s trigger time of 8:09 EST passed by. By contrast SCO’s website has been unreachable for days thanks to the data barrage launched by the virus. Still, security officials warned MyDoom was spreading rapidly despite the fact more computer users were fortifying their machines with free patches from anti-virus vendors. Stay tuned..
