This season’s The Bachelor: Rome was a hopeless romantic’s television dream come true. At long last, the dashing Italian prince, Lorenzo Borghese, presented his final rose. Jennifer Wilson — the gorgeous, sweet-as-cane-sugar schoolteacher from Miami — is the chosen one. As Lorenzo and Jen reunited, the happy couple was kind enough to take time out from canoodling to talk with MeeVee about life, love, and the pursuit of Reality TV.
Was the brunch experience, with both girls and their parents, as painful
as it looked?
Jen: Brunch was definitely awkward. I can always count on my father to lighten the moment with some kind of smart or sarcastic remark, but it was definitely awkward. I love Sadie, and it was neat meeting her family. I wish I could have met her family under different circumstances. In the end, it was all good. We were able to laugh and come together.
Lorenzo: What was interesting about the brunch was that the families got along, and they saw the genuine qualities in both girls. [Both families]
were going to be happy with the outcome, because they are both good people.
You both are totally great people. Jen, you and Sadie seemed to get along really well. Was it hard going up against her?
Jen: That was the most difficult thing in the whole process. This wasn’t a girl that I hated, this wasn’t a girl that I didn’t want Lorenzo to end up with. This was a girl that I had a huge respect for, and that I thought was an amazing person and beautiful on both the inside and the outside. That made it much more difficult for me – to know that I had so much in common with her, and we had such a strong bond in such a short time. And then we were in the final two, and we were both there for the same guy. I definitely hope that we can stay friends.
Jen, how is your father handling the happy news? He’s quite a character!
Jen: He’s actually really excited for me. I’ve been a daddy’s girl since I was little.
Are you going to watch the next season of The Bachelor together?
Lorenzo: It’s not on during Monday Night Football , right?
Jen: I think we’ll definitely be watching. I don’t know how we couldn’t!
Lorenzo: It looks like they picked a good guy. I’ll definitely be rooting for him!
