Presented by WNBC and LX.TV, OpenHouse New York is an original weekly television series about New York’s residential real estate market. Hosted by LX.TV’s Sara Gore and George Oliphant, OpenHouse New York features weekly access to distinctive and noteworthy properties in the New York tri-state area. The show presents an intimate view of New Yorkers as they search for, purchase, and improve their dream homes.

On this week’s Floorplan, George Oliphant brings us up to speed with the latest in child-proofing techniques to ensure your curious little ones stay safe in your home. George visits with the Smith family whose two young sons, Brennen and Christian are as mischievous as they come.

In order to make sure these tykes have a fun and safe place to play, George consults with expert child-proofer Alison Rhodes of Peek-a-Boo Baby Proofing. As Alison leads George through the Smith home, she points out lurking child safety hazards and some easy and affordable child-proofing remedies. Some danger zones Alison discerns are unsecured gates, open outlets, sharp corners, and easily accessible kitchen drawers.

After Alison’s tutorial, Daddy Smith child-proofs his home. Watch to see whether Brennen and Christian can overcome the ingenuity of their parents…

Great video! As a parent of two little boys I completely relate to this! I also bought that book (Mommy Can Do It: A Do-It-Herself Guide to Baby-Proofing) that’s shown below the video and love it! I had NO idea my little guys could get into so much trouble and now that they’re almost 2 I’m so glad I had this book. Neither one of them have ever had a trip to the hospital and I think it’s because of this book. A lot of the tips from this video are talked about in the book plus the author includes the best childproofing checklist I’ve ever seen.
