With a little over two months until the September 6 release of his upcoming LP, Seeds We Sow, Lindsey Buckingham is offering fans a preview in the form of a free download of its title track.

The album is the sixth solo effort from the Fleetwood Mac legend his third in just five years, following 2006’s Under the Skin and 2008’s Gift of Screws.

As for the new track, “Seeds We Sow” finds Buckingham further exploring the stark sonic terrain of those two prior works, his finger-picking virtuosity on the acoustic guitar soldiering forth at a blustery, tenacious pace. He handles everything here (as he does on the album overall) from performance to production, and such investment gives this song a heightened sense of tension that is often complemented by his vocal’s wistful distinction.

Backed by his stalwart road band, Lindsey Buckingham will kick off a North American tour in support of Seeds We Sow with a two-night stand in Reno on September 9 that will ultimately include more than 30 dates. Further details about the album and the forthcoming tour are available at the artist’s official website.
