Read Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them just for the ending! Sure that sounds like a hokey description for some really spooky and mysterious novel of international death and intrigue… but I am serious. It is very rare that I read the last words of a book and laugh out loud… waking my wife up at 1:30 in the morning… but I did. (And I survived her bleary eyed, weak swat at my head.)

Now that I think about it, Al Franken’s latest satirical bite into the behinds of the Right has a lot to do with “spooky and mysterious.” The spooky and mysterious being how all the Right-Wing media pundits seem to concoct their tales of the Liberal-Media.

Al does the fact checking and comes up with some interesting revelations of the beloved weighty personalities and no-substance folks like Bill O’Reilly and Anne Coulter. It seems they really don’t know what they are talking about and happily will gloss over it to keep their big mouths flapping.

Franken seems to just bring the wood to the fire and his intended victims keep adding lighter fluid. These folks practically write the book for him. The joy with which he tells his tales makes it seem as if Franken wants us all to try it some time. Quick! Go find a loud and volatile person. Coax them a bit and sit back as they waste time making an ass of themselves. It’s good, clean fun.

Franken in no way decries that both sides aren’t guilty of the political pleasure of mis-truths. He just fires back with the same rhetoric that Conservatives have been using for years… mainly “Speak Loudly and Carry No Stick.”

The book is interspersed with tales of Franken’s mischievous misgivings of pissing off celbs and politicos and of course his typical tongue and cheek pokes at the fact he could be lying too.

(I did walk away still wondering one thing… how can women and minorities ever belong to the Republican party or any Conservative group? It baffles me… but as I learned last night, maybe Ahhnold is promising them a place in Terminator 4.)

How can women and minorities be conservative? You have to be kidding. This is such a typical liberal elite view of the world that I’m hoping it’s YOUR own form of satire.
