Kottke abandons plan

Jason Kottke, the blogger who quit his job to blog full-time has announced that he is no longer seeking donations to support his endeavor. His plan had been to fund his blog by requesting “Micropayments” from readers who enjoyed his site. As part of his announcement he stated he hadn’t attracted a large enough readership to support a subscription model.

Michael Stipe to headline war protest concert

The event is titled “Bring ‘Em Home Now”. It is set to coincide with the three year anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. It will be held at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Others who are set to perform include Bright Eyes, Devendra Banhart, Steve Earle and Rufus Wainwright.

Alice in Chains to play the Nova Rock Festival

Alice in Chains will be reforming to play the Austrian Nova Rock Festival. The festival is set to be held on June 15th in Nickelsdorf, Austria. Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley overdosed in 2002 and there is no word as to who will be taking up singing duties at the show.

    Erm, is “Kottke Abandons Plan” really accurate? He gave it a shot for a year. The year’s up. He elected not to renew.

    The whole thing was framed at its inception as an experiment. There was no multi-year plan which has now been abandoned.

  • I never really understood the appeal of Kottke. His blog always seemed to be boring to me. He’s kind of the white bread of blogging. Bland but popular.
    It surprises me that my blog isn’t more popular given it’s blandness.
