*note all band names couldn’t fit in the Title bar, so it got chopped into the label name

This is a five way split put out by duel record labels (Kickstart Audio and Chowda Records). Each band has three songs making for a total of 15 tracks. All the bands seem to mesh stylistically, except for the first band which seems to be the loner band of the bunch.

Last Day Parade – This band is semi-technical hardcore, which I really enjoy. The guitars, bass, and drums put together some interesting music that is worth checking out. One thing makes this band unbearable. The vocalist does this half sing, half scream thing. That’s not bad. That fact that he does that off key is. Honestly folks he screams off key. I didn’t know that was possible (I asked my music major sister and she said it was). So the instrumental breaks on these three songs are the highlights. The singing brings it all down.

The Commercials – Rock ‘n’ Roll kids. They play loud and aggressive and even have a solo. Well ok, they also have the standard emo influences too. The nice sweet guitar arpeggios and what not, but this band really shines when they decide to rock out and not worry about being sweet. The singer’s voice is just cut out for rougher music then emo.

Fading Fast – Fast paced emo. It has everything emo is supposed to have including pianos. They have some interesting break-downish parts, but ultimately boring, unless of course you are into that sort of thing.

The Cotton Weary
First Song: Acoustic guitar into
Blah Blah Blah
Loud electric guitars with singing that isn’t boring only because it’s bad
Blah Blah Blah
Off key backround vocals
Blah Blah Blah

Next Song: Bass and weird noises
Blah Blah Blah
Song again ruined by singing
Blah Blah Blah
Third Song: Soft rockish
Blah Blah Blah
Stop singing please!
Overall = boring

This Radiant Boy – This is one of those bands that you kick yourself for having them on a compilation because you want the whole CD. It’s just some nice rock music that you can jam too. The vocals: AREN’T OFF KEY!!!!! That’s been my pet peeve of this whole CD, so this excites me greatly. Overall these songs aren’t the best out there, but they aren’t the worst either. This Radiant Boy does some interesting things which lead me to believe that they have some potential.

Buy it from Kickstart Audio or Chowda Records.
