Keith Jarrett will play a solo concert at Carnegie Hall on September 26th – his first solo concert in North America since 1995, and his first solo outing at Carnegie in 30 years.
The solo concert was announced on Wednesday evening at Carnegie Hall when Jarrett and his long-time trio partners Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette played a sold-out JVC Festival appearance.

There is no way to predict what Jarrett will play in a solo concert, since he makes it a point to empty his mind before arriving on stage – but a very good idea of what might happen can be gleaned from the brilliant 2CD set Radiance just released on May 3rd this year.
Radiance documents in full one of the first solo improvised concerts Jarrett played (in October 2002 in Osaka, Japan) after being sidelined by illness in 1996. In addition there are four excerpts from a second concert performed in Tokyo later that month.

On September 27th 2005, ECM will release a DVD of the entire Tokyo concert. This will ECM’s first ever DVD release.
