Judge Jeanine spoke with former Governor Mike Huckabee about the Republican presidential debate. I don’t understand why anyone cares what the Governor thinks. He references his Christianity often, but actions speak louder than words.

David Huckabee, son of the former Governor, and a friend reportedly tortured and killed a stray dog. He was working as a Boy Scout camp counselor at the time. He was fired for killing the dog because he violated Scout law, “A Scout is kind.”

It has been reported that Governor Huckabee tried to use his influence to make the charges go away. Newsweek quotes I.C. Smith, former FBI chief in Little Rock “Without question, [Huckabee] was making a conscious attempt to keep the state police from investigating his son.” Though the prosecuting attorney asked for an investigation the state police wouldn’t investigate or file charges.

Mike Huckabee had said,”My son was a minor at the time. It was not a criminal issue.” His son was two weeks away from becoming an adult. The fact he can say torturing and killing a dog isn’t a crime sickens me. Rumors were that David had slit the dogs throat, hung it and then stoned it to death.

The boys have claimed the dog looked mangy and emaciated. I have been involved in animal rescue my entire adult life and have had a dog with mange; a few weeks of medicine cured her. I currently have an emaciated dog that is missing a lot of hair from a flea allergy. Though she is so emaciated, I can’t believe she’s still alive, the vet says she expects the dog to make a full recovery. Help not torture is what a sick dog needs.

Now, had Governor Huckabee put his son in intensive psychotherapy, I could forgive him. But saying abusing a dog isn’t a crime is sick and arrogant. The Bible even says we are to care for our pets. As a Christian he should know better. Proverbs 12:10 “A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.”

Studies have shown that people who abuse animals will hurt humans. Serial killers have a history of animal abuse. I’m not saying David Huckabee will become a serial killer, I am saying his father is a disgrace. This was given very little publicity when it occurred more than 10 years ago. The Huckabee supporters I know were stunned by the story and couldn’t believe they’d never heard about it. It’s a story I feel should be told.

Justice with Judge Jeanine is on every Saturday at 9:00 p.m. EST on Fox News Channel. You can follow Judge Jeanine on Twitter and Facebook.

Actually I would require that Huckabee first beat the crap out of his son then put him in intensive therapy for me to forgive him. Anyone who can torture a poor animal needs a serious beat down before therapy. The part about beating the crap out of the son was edited out by editor. But it would have been a requirement for my forgiveness..not just therapy.
