The Glee Club hits the big time on the iTunes Album Chart...

iTunes Chart Watch, Week 11/9/09: Michael Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Glee, Owl City, Weezer

Well I managed to upset Owl City nation with my previous iTunes Chart Watch.  They took issue with me deciding 30 seconds of "Fireflies" was enough to know I hated it.  I'm not conceding the point but I'll say this as a peace offering: 30 seconds was enough to make me not want to hear the rest of it.  Friends now?  At any rate, I don't seem to have stopped the momentum.  "Fireflies" is again the #1 single and Owl City's Ocean Eyes is the #3 album on this week's chart.

Taking a look at the rest of the singles chart, we have a new entry from an artist called Ke$ha.  Am I the only one who finds it crass to put a dollar sign in your name?  I know it's art and entertainment and this is far from the most crass moniker ever invented, but I just can't help cringing when I see that.

Blogcritics' writer Clayton Perry interviewed Jason DeRulo, who has been all over the singles chart with "Whatcha Say."  Lady GaGa also continues to place single after single on the chart, against my will.

On the albums front, I know my friend "C" would be pleased to see the Glee soundtrack checking in at #2 on the albums chart.  She declared it the best $10 she's ever spent when she picked up her copy.  Edging out the soundtrack for top honors this week is the latest effort from former American Idol star Carrie Underwood.  Fellow Weezer fan and Blogcritics writer Greg Smyth had a priceless tweet about the new Weezer album.  He wasn't immediately enthused and I've so far passed on Ratitude, but it debuts at #4.
