It is the job of Paris Hilton’s lawyer, David Chernoff, to rigorously defend the socialite from any and all charges while under her employ. Translation: SPIN THIS CHIT any way you can.
His comment on her latest arrest just before midnight on Friday, August 27, 2010 in Las Vegas on possession of cocaine is:
“Paris Hilton was released this morning on her own recognizance. This matter will be dealt with in the courts not in the media and I encourage people not to rush to judgment until all of the facts have been dealt with in a court of law.”
Shame on all of us for automatically assuming Paris is either guilty as sin or that someone is going to be the fall guy/girl or that somehow this charge will be reduced because, say what you will, money talks. If this was Joe Average being charged with cocaine possession I doubt he/she would have been released on his own recognizance like Ms. Hilton.
If Mr. Chernoff wonders why everyone rushes to judgment, we only have the facts to go by.
Back in June of 2007, after her release from prison, Paris sat down with Larry King and discussed how her party days are over and how she is going to serve mankind and those less advantaged. Uh-huh. I haven’t seen any pictures of her doing volunteer work, and although some might say she wants to keep it on the down low, this is Paris Hilton we are talking about. Everything is for public consumption.
In July of 2010 she was detained in South Africa for possession of pot that turned out to be “her friend’s” pot. Uh-huh.
And a few weeks after that, she was stopped in France when they found less than an ounce of pot on her person, to which she Tweeted: “The stories saying I have been arrested are completely false!”
Originally word was coming out that she had her defence all worked out. According to TMZ it is going to be…wait..sit down for this one: “It wasn’t my purse.” Wow. That’s shocking. Poor Paris. Always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe it belonged to her boyfriend, Cy Wait, who was booked for DUI on Friday evening.
And now her story is changing. Apparently the purse is hers, but the coke is not. Of course. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that she’s been charged with felony possession and could face anywhere from probation to four years in prison. Given this is not her first offense, it is unlikely she would get probation, although one never knows.
Paris Hilton is either really that dumb, or that arrogant to think anyone is going to believe the “it’s not mine” defense. How many times does she think she can get away with it? She is simply a spoiled brat who plays victim and lets everyone else take the fall for her because she is Paris Hilton.Powered by Sidelines
