Suspended Rajasthan Royal cricketer Ankeet Chavan tied the nuptial knot with his longtime fiancee Neha Sambari. The wedding ceremony was held on June 2 at Kohinoor Banquet Hall in Dadar, Mumbai, India. Ankeet is one of the key players arrested in the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2013 match-fixing scandal.
The wedding ceremony was carried out in at-most simplicity in presence of only family and some chosen guests. Although the big named celebrities preferred to stay away from the ceremony, cops did record their presence in the wedding, looking for other threads in the spot-fixing scandal.
In a statement made before the ceremony, Neha said to Indian media, “I will wed Ankeet on Sunday, but I am already married to the family. I did not even once think of backing out,”
Ankeet was charged with spot-fixing against the Mumbai Indians where he was paid Rs60 lakhs (U.S. $110,000) to give away a specific number of runs in an over, which he did accordingly. He was arrested on May 16, along with his fellow team members S. Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila, who also are part of fixing scandal.
Ankeet was granted conditional bail to attend the wedding. The bail will end on June 6 after which Ankeet will have to be locked up again per court order.
