Edward Mrkvicka Jr. is a multi-award-winning Christian author. No Innocent Affair is his most recent book.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a lay minister/counselor, life-long Bible student, and Christian writer.
Prior to my Christian writings I was a bank president who wrote books about banking, personal finance, and the stock market. And while I feel those subjects are practically important, they pale next to the Word of God. My first love is, and always has been, the truth of God’s Word.
What made you first decide to become a writer?
I have no formal writing training whatsoever. In fact, I’m sure I do everything wrong. That said, I’ve always enjoyed writing in a general sense. When I’m writing about the Word of God the enjoyment turns to pure joy.
Can you tell us about your latest book?
No Innocent Affair explores the matter of adultery in a way far removed from the norm.
I have tried to blend the secular with the spiritual, giving special emphasis to the innocent victims of adultery; e.g., children. The problem with adultery is that people seldom think it through until it’s too late. Believe me, the damage to everyone is far deeper than you can possibly imagine.
Perhaps the best proof of my contention is the general response from those I have helped over the years – almost to a person, adulterers eventually say that “it just wasn’t worth it.”
What inspired you to write it?
My counseling experience has made all too clear that adultery is an epidemic that is helping destroy families. Equally clear is the fact that participants, blinded by lust, lose rational and spiritual thought.
So I have, through the Word of God, put on paper the truth about adultery, which is this – it does great harm to everyone it touches. Whether you betray your spouse or are the one betrayed, your life will never be the same.
What is one thing you hope readers will take away from this book?
That there is hope. The temptation of adultery can be defeated.
And if you’ve already committed adultery, there is a way home.
In both instances, I have outlined a step-by-step plan that can give you your life back.
Where can readers purchase a copy of your book?
At bookstores and Amazon.com.
If you could meet any writer (living or dead) who would it be?
There are so many wonderful authors that your question overwhelms me. Saying “living or dead” makes it even more difficult.
I have always been an avid reader – mostly non-fiction. Lately I’ve been far more open to novels.
For those who might think I would say the Bible is my favorite book, it’s not, because it’s not simply a “book.” It’s the Word of God. Over and above the spiritual, it has more good advice in it than all the books ever written combined.
What is one fact about yourself you wish to share with our readers?
I am devoted to the truth of God’s Word and helping others.
What is up next for you?
I’m working on two new books right now. One on forgiveness and the other on God and your career success.
