Douglas Misquita is a thriller writer from India. Inspired by Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park, his desire is to write and tell entertaining stories. Find out more at his website.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
Well, I’m from India but my influences are outside India; that’s why my stories aren’t (for the moment) based in India. I work as a project manager in the wireless communications industry and when I’m not in office, reading, music and movies are what I spend most of my balance time with. I’m fascinated by places that have played a role in the development of civilization and our beliefs, and places that are associated with unexplained mystery, and hope that I can visit most of them in my lifetime.
What made you first decide to become a writer?
In 1993, I picked up a copy of Jurassic Park and was fascinated by Michael Crichton’s ability to transport the reader into the fiction and make it so believable. I wanted to do the same: take readers on a thrill ride and make them believe, if even for a few hours, that the events in the story were unfolding before their eyes.
Can you tell us about your latest book?
Haunted is a no-holds-barred action-thriller. It traces a set of events that occur over a period of three days in the lives of FBI agent Kirk Ingram and LAPD detective James Connor and features the rawest and purest form of action-entertainment: gun battles, car-chases, explosions, fist-fights (on land, in the sea and in the air), revenge and double-agents all told in a manner that the reader feels he or she is watching a movie.
What inspired you to write it?
I was inspired by big-scale action movies. I thought up the best and most-loved action sequences and strung them together in the form of a story.
What is one thing you hope readers will take away from this book?
Well, I certainly hope they will be entertained. And yeah, I’d like that they take back (into their real lives) the tenacity and determination that drives the characters in the book.
Where can readers purchase a copy of your book?
Haunted is available on Amazon US and its available in stores in India and at online stores serving India. All you need to do is visit the Grab Your Copy page on my website and select the city or online store you want to purchase the book from.
If you could meet any writer (living or dead) who would it be?
It would be Matthew Reilly.
What is one fact about yourself you wish to share with our readers?
Umm… let’s see… fact is I’ve put up quite a lot on my website. But other than that, about myself, I love crispy panrolls? (laughs)
What is up next for you?
I’ve got other stories lined up to tell and they should be available soon. Also hope to do a lot more on the music scene with the hobby-musician band I play with or on my own.
Is there anything you would like to add?
Um, yes, I truly believe we need to be more aware of the beauty of our lives and planet and we need to be good to everything around us.Powered by Sidelines
