If you had to describe your book in two sentences, what would they be?
The Heart Stone is a contemporary story about two women’s journeys to find hope and forgiveness. When the lives of these two women cross, they discover one heart-shaped diamond ring binds their stories together.
Do you have a favorite line or excerpt from your current work?
I do, but the excerpt is on page 297 and it would give the story away. You’ll know which paragraph I’m talking about because it is the only one on the page. The words make me tear up every time I read them.
What are five important things that you take into consideration while writing your story?
I enjoy writing stories that reconnect lives, so the first thing I consider is creating interesting characters. I also think about story arc, spiritual theme, construction, and entertainment value.
Why should readers pick up your book?
While writing The Heart Stone, I discovered the importance of releasing my fears and taking steps to forgive someone who has hurt me, otherwise my heart would become hard and bitter. My hope is that after reading The Heart Stone my readers will also want to forgive someone who has hurt them.
What was the turning point when you realized you wanted to write and share your voice with the world?
The turning point for me to write novels for publication was during a mentoring class when best-selling author James Scott Bell said to me, “You’ve got what it takes, kid!” I knew then that I had a chance of becoming published.
What genres do you prefer to read? Which do you enjoy writing in?
I enjoy reading and writing contemporary women’s fiction and historical romance.
What five things would you have with you at all times if you had to be prepared to take a trip at the drop of a hat?
I’d love to take a trip at the drop of a hat! With a husband and four kids, it takes a lot of planning on my part, but the five things I’d definitely take with me are lip-gloss, sunglasses, a change of clothes, my iPhone, and a credit card.
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
If I had one super power, it would be super speed because then I’d get everything done on my “to do” list.
What footprint do you want to leave behind in this world?
I would like to make each step count by walking joyfully, living passionately, and learning daily. Most of all, I want to be someone that truly loves and makes people feel special.Powered by Sidelines
