Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist and I have been writing for over 15 years. I grew up in the deep south and a lot of my work is shaped by my experiences as both a southerner and a physician. I have lectured and spoken in many different parts of the world and I write full time.

What made you first decide to become a writer?

I practiced psychiatry full time for over 15 years. Quite often, ideas would flow into my mind during sessions with clients and I could hardly wait until the end of the session to write them down. Over the years, I built up quite a lot of notes. Those notes are now the basis of much of what I write.

Can you tell us about your latest book?

The Nine Insights is a book that is designed to be a guide for those who wish to rise above the suffering and confusion that so often marks this path of existence. As a medical professional, the Creator has given me thousands of profound moments of transformational insight. I began keeping notes on these insights and stored them away in a journal that over time, became the basis for this work. From time to time, I shared these insights with friends, family, clients, and colleagues. Simple in their presentation, profound in their scope, The Nine Insights are meant only as a reference. Each chapter presents one insight as a unique entity. The stories and vignettes that support each insight are in large part based on my personal clinical experiences. From time to time, I have included a number of famous stories from history that help to outline the deeper perspectives of some of the insights.

What inspired you to write it?

The stories and vignettes that support each insight are in large part based on my personal clinical experiences. From time to time, I have included a number of famous stories from history that help to outline the deeper perspectives of some of the insights. By listening to my clients, I learned that they were in fact great teachers. When I was in private practice, I listened to thousands of life stories from people in many different walks of life. I got a first hand look at how life made a person successful and happy, or miserably unhappy failures. From these experiences, I developed a host of insights that are reflected in the book. If you watch life long enough, it will teach you what works..

What is one thing you hope readers will take away from this book?

Learn the rules of attaining a happy life, apply them, and teach them to others. Your life will be far better for it.

Where can readers purchase a copy of your book?

Amazon, my website www.tybro.com, Ebookit, Barnes and Noble, and most major book stores.

If you could meet any writer (living or dead) who would it be?

Neil Gaiman is my hero. American Gods, Stardust, The Sandman Series are some of my favorite reads. I like his imagination, wit, and style of composition. Great writer.

What is one fact about yourself you wish to share with our readers?

At heart, I am a teacher. My works are designed to help ease the burden of unhappiness, suffering, and pain on this world. I love people and it is my goal to one day see mankind as a happier and wiser species.

What is up next for you?

I am completing two books. One is a sci-fi fantasy entitled The First Darkness. It is a story about an angel that develops a fatal illness and comes to earth in search of a cure. The second is a follow up to Ancient Teaching Stories. It is a book that contains a series of concise and thought-provoking stories from a number of spiritual traditions from around the world. That book is entitled The Pot that was Cracked.

Is there anything you would like to add?

I invite the reader to share these insights with others. I hope to provide a little light in a world where millions feel isolated, empty, and without hope. The Twelve Insights came from the Creator. I believe that they are his way of reminding each of us that we are unique and special to him in ways that we cannot even imagine.
