In May 2009, three young men Piero Barone (17), Ignazio Boschetto (16), and Gianluca Ginoble (16) launched their career on a popular Italian talent show “Ti Lascio Una Canzone”. Their amazing performance of the standard “O Sole Mio” lead them to a recording contract with Universal Music Group and in November 2010 their first album was released in Italy.
The group was named Il Volo meaning “flight,” to signify the feeling that these three young tenors were about to spread their wings and fly. The prediction proved correct since the album is already certified gold and on its way to platinum status in their home country and will see a worldwide release in 2011.
IL VOLO’s 12 tracks appeal to a wide range of audience and include both classic and new compositions.
These young men are serious about their careers and want to share their love for this music with people all over the world, including kids their own age. That they say “would be our dream come true.”
