For those last few losers concerned citizens who were holding out hope that the “Wendy’s finger woman” was wronged gravely by a finger in her chili, sad news.

She is as advertised – a liar, or a mentally unbalanced woman, who wanted money. Turns out that finger belonged to an associate of Anna Ayala’s husband who lost his finger in an industrial accident.

It’s got to take a little bit of a warped mind to carry around someone else’s finger just to make a few bucks or to get attention (Blue dress, anyone???)

But she did. The Associated Press, via the Austin American-Statesman (reg. reqd.) reports:

The owner was traced through a tip made to a Wendy’s hot line, Davis said. He said the man lost the finger in December, and authorities “positively confirmed that this subject was in fact the source of the fingertip.” The nature of the industrial accident was not disclosed.

Davis said the Nevada man, whose name was not released, is cooperating. The police chief would not say if the man was in on the alleged hoax.

Police believe the man gave the finger fragment to Ayala’s husband, Jaime Plascencia, who was arrested this month on identity-theft charges unrelated to the Wendy’s case.

The 39-year-old Ayala faces grand larceny charges; meanwhile Wendy’s says they have fired 100s of employees and lost millions in sales.

great title! you beat me to the story, thanks!

  • Talk about giving someone the finger.

The question remains, which is healthier to eat, a Wendy’s burger or a human finger? I can smell another fast food documentary weighing in on this issue.

  • The human finger was certainly unhealthy for hundreds of Wendy’s employees and thousands of Wendy’s investors.

  • There’s nothing wrong with eating human flesh, dammit. It’s perfectly natural and healthy.

It would have been more ironic if she had just dug up Dave Thomas and removed his finger to place in her meal…
