There are shortcuts you can take to slash the amount of time it takes to get ready for a date.

How to Get Ready for a Date in 30 Minutes or Less

How to Get Ready for a Date in 30 Minutes or LessWe’ve all had those first dates where it takes us longer to get ready for the date than the actual date lasts. But what happens when you get off work right before the date and you only have 20 or 30 minutes to put yourself together? Thankfully, there are some shortcuts you can use.

6 Tips for Getting Ready in a Hurry

There’s nothing worse than feeling rushed when trying to get ready for a date. The good news is that there are shortcuts you can take to slash the amount of time it takes. The following tips should prove helpful:

1. Prepare Outfits Ahead of Time

If you know that you’re only going to have a few minutes to get ready, go ahead and prepare at least two outfits ahead of time. This takes away the stress of trying to find the perfect combination and will limit your options.

2. Turn on Some Light Music

This second tip has nothing to do with your looks and everything to do with your sanity. Turn on some light music in the bathroom as you get ready. It’ll calm your nerves and help you enjoy the moment. If you’re getting picked up by your date, it may even be a good idea to sip a glass of wine.

3. Use the Right Hair Products

Your hair is probably your biggest concern. Whether you just woke up from a deep slumber or have spent the last eight hours at work, you can’t look your best if you don’t have your hair under control.

Since you don’t have time to shower, blow dry, and complete an entire hair routine, you have to get creative. The right hair products come in handy at a time like this. Consider using the following two products:

  • Living Proof Perfect Dry Shampoo. When you have greasy or dirty hair, but don’t have time to wash it, this dry shampoo from Living Proof Perfect is a lifesaver. It lets you bring your hair back to life with zero mess and zero water.
  • TYME Iron. Every woman needs that versatile tool that lets her do anything to her hair in a matter of minutes. This TYME Iron is the answer. Whether you want to create a beautiful head of curls or straighten out that frizz, this iron can do it all in just minutes.

Once you get your hair figured out, you’ll feel confident and in control. Everything else will fall into place.

4. Freshen Up With an Easy Product

Just because you don’t have time for a shower, doesn’t mean you can’t freshen up. Always keep a set of cleansing towelettes on hand – such as these from Acure Organics. These towelettes can be used on your entire body to remove sweat, dirt, and grime, without leaving a scent. They’ll also leave you feeling much cleaner and fresher.

5. Brush and Floss

This should go without saying, but you must brush and floss before leaving on your date. While you obviously want to prevent bad breath in the first place, this has more to do with your mental psyche than anything else.

“One of the first things people notice about you is your smile,” Colgate explains. “It is one thing we are all self-conscious about, but when you feel good about your smile you will automatically have more confidence in yourself.”

On a related note, make sure you brush your tongue. It’s amazing how many people don’t brush their tongues. That’s nasty, regardless, but even nastier when you’re on a date.

6. Take a Deep Breath

Before it’s finally time to leave, look at yourself in the mirror and take a deep breath. It’s important that you verbally affirm yourself. If you want someone else to think you look good, you must first believe in yourself. This small act will go a long way towards ensuring you have a fun and memorable date.

Stop Striving for Perfection

The problem with first dates is they’re totally fake. Both individuals are putting forth a projection of who they want the other person to think they are. Nobody wants to mess up, so everything is played safe. But have you ever considered how ridiculous this is? Sooner or later, you’re both going to find out the truth – yep, neither of you is perfect.

Instead of striving for perfection on the first date, let loose and have a little fun. You don’t need to spend two hours getting ready. Throw on an outfit you feel confident in, touch up your makeup, and go out and enjoy the evening. Fifteen or twenty minutes of prep time is more than enough – especially when you have these tips in the back of your mind.
