I drove to Fresno, California for a concert. Because of the economy, I wanted to spend as little money as possible. I booked through Travelocity and ended up at the Ramada University for only $75 a night. I was expecting something low budget, but Ramada University really impressed me.

I was accidentally booked at a different Ramada in Fresno. I didn't know much about the other Ramada, but Ramada University was close to where the concert was and I wanted to be as close as possible. So, I called Travelocity. I expected the worst: either I wouldn't be able to transfer to Ramada University or the hotel would be a real pain and it wouldn't be worth it. It was the night before check-in at about 10 p.m. To my surprise and delight, the Ramada University (and I have to give credit to Travelocity as well) was very helpful and got me a room very quickly.

When I went to check in, it was no different. The customer service was very good and it only took about two minutes to check in. The lady working there was nice.

The rooms were very nice. Very spacious. The bathroom was big and the beds were comfortable. The room was clean.

Unlike some other hotels, Ramada University offers free wi-fi, which is always a plus. They have a lot of TV channels available, including HBO and Showtime. Their pool and hot tub look nice, although I did not use either.

Ramada University is located on Shaw Avenue. There's a restaurant in the hotel. There are also free muffins from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Subway, Starbucks, and McDonalds are also in walking distance. Shaw Avenue is a big street with a lot of sit-down restaurants as well. Ramada University is very close to the airport and California State University Fresno. There's also a ramp to Freeway 41.

I don't know if I'll ever be in Fresno again, but if I do end up there, I definitely want to stay at Ramada University.
