The holidays are upon us and instead of a sarcastic tone, The Critic will offer warm thanks for the gifts we’ve been given over the past sports year. It’s too easy to take swipes at teams like the Raiders, Knicks, and Temple. Since it’s the holidays here are few gifts sports fans received:
Thanks for Terrell Owens. T.O. uses his febrile imagination to keep us entertained.
What a gift. Albert Pujols wins the World Series and gripes about losing the MVP race. Way to go, team player.
Wrapped up in a box are the Cincinnati Bengals. Well, at least eight of them are in the box.
Brett Favre returned for another year of granting holiday wishes to defensive backs around the league.
Jon Gruden has a holiday wish; a victory.
The Houston Texans were in a giving mood. Texans front office personnel said, ‘‘Go on, take Reggie Bush, we’ll take Mario Williams. What could possibly go wrong?”
Fox Sports felt left out when the Yankees didn’t advance to the World Series. But hey, they were able to see the Cardinals and Tigers. And they wept.
The NHL began play and was thankful no one witnessed it.
Danica Patrick wrapped up the Indianapolis 500 with a strong not-in-first-place finish. Yet, she still scored a Jay-Z commercial. Way to go Dana, Danica… whatever.
Steelers’ fans obtain a gift and have it taken away. The Steelers won the Super Bowl and dropped to third in the AFC North in the same year.
Though the Critic will continue to write articles through the holidays let me take this time to wish everyone a happy holiday season.
