Our minds have a tremendous ability to affect our physical bodies. What we visualize in our minds directly affects the physiology of our bodies. It has been found that positive and creative visualizations foster healing in our bodies because our mind and body are connected.
Even cancer patients have found that guided imagery reduces pain and, in fact, the Sloan Kettering memorial Cancer Center and The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center have concluded after several studies that patients who participated in guided imagery had a significant reduction in cancer pain.
What we believe matters.
Ever hear the phrase, “We become what we think?” It is true when it comes to healing. Our minds are connected to our body, so our thoughts affect our health. This is the law of attraction at work concerning our physical makeup.
The law of attraction is a law that asserts that like attracts like. In other words, regarding healing and the mind, what you think about you will attract. If you think positive thoughts about your health, recite positive affirmations, and believe them to be true, the law of attraction states that positive health will manifest in your life.
Have you ever known a deeply negative person who continually complains of how terrible their life is or how sick they always are? As a by-product of their negative thinking and confessions, they are attracting negative situations and conditions into their lives.
What is the mind-body connection?
Our emotions affect our bodies. For example, when something frightens you, you may get goose bumps, which means that your senses produced the emotion of fear, which in turn caused your physical body to produce goose bumps. This is a physical reaction based upon your emotions in your mind.
Does what we think really affect our physical health?
Our hypothalamus in our brain is the emotional center and it changes emotions into physical responses. Our thoughts affect our bodies more so than we think. For instance, when something scares us and we feel afraid, adrenaline is produced in our bodies, so the emotion of fear caused that adrenaline to be formed. The mind affected the physical body.
Neurotransmitters, which are chemical messenger hormones, carry emotions “back and forth between the mind and body.” Endorphins, which are released when we exercise, are neurotransmitters that act as natural painkillers. So in essence we want our neurotransmitters to be carrying positive, healthy emotions to our body. Interestingly enough, it has been found that positive thoughts enhance the immune system and negative thoughts wear the immune system down.
How using your mind for visualization equals healing power
Positive thinking, plus visualization and the healing power of the mind leads to health. Many ailments have been reduced or eliminated completely tapping into the healing power of the mind, including high blood pressure, migraines, chronic sinusitis, depression, and many more.
Creative visualization can be likened to meditation. Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains his/her mind to become more conscious. There are plenty of meditation techniques that differ according to religious or cultural tradition. There have been plenty of scientific studies through the years that link mediation with changes in blood pressure, metabolism, and pain reduction.
How you can use the healing power of your mind through meditation:
You can research various meditation techniques and use on a daily basis. The important thing here is to actually commit to making meditation a daily habit, as the practice of utilizing the healing power of your mind will allow your physical body to experience more health and vitality.
When you are ready to meditate, sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Take a few deep breaths and relax your entire body. Be sure that you have a specific intention for your creative visualization. If you want to see your body healed of an ailment, or have more vitality, then visualize yourself well, strong, and vibrant.
You can simply use your mind/thoughts or speak your intention out loud. If you feel that you need help, there are plenty of audio meditations available that will guide you.
The healing power of the mind is an incredible discovery. Using meditation and/or spiritual beliefs have been found to be quite effective in the healing of the body. In fact, Herbert Benson, M.D., of Harvard Medical School, states that, “”If you truly believe in your personal philosophy or religious faith–if you are committed, mind and soul, to your world view– you may well be capable of achieving remarkable feats of mind and body that we may only speculate about.”
Why do so many people suffering from sickness?
There are plenty of people who continually suffer from sickness, whether it be emotional or physical sickness. A common question is why? Why do so many people suffer when spiritual and scientific research asserts that healing power abounds in the universe?
There is no perfect answer to this question. The best answer that one can give in my opinion is, “I’m not really sure.” We all have our theories as to why some are healed and some are not, but it is important to remember that the fact remains that many ARE healed. Many people throughout the centuries have tapped into healing power via different means and have experienced healing. To focus on the ones who have not received healing does not necessarily help matters.
The fact that some remain unhealed ought to make us even more determined to continue forging the path to see everyone divinely healed. There is healing power available and we all ought to be doing all we can to tap into that power for humanity’s sake.
There certainly is a mind body connection when it comes to healing power. If you haven’t already begun to learn about this divine connection, I encourage you to start today. Begin utilizing meditation techniques as well and I assure you that you will begin to notice your emotional and physical life transform right before your very eyes.Powered by Sidelines
