The Darkness and The White Stripes have been added to the line up of the MTV Europe Music Awards which take place in Edinburgh on 6 Nov. They join the previously announced line up of Beyoncé, Dido, Kylie Minogue, Pink, Sean Paul, The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips and Travis.
Let’s hope the Darkness are back on form. The buzz band had to cancel their
Liverpool gig at the last minute (literally – the show was pulled minutes before the band were due on stage) yesterday because frontman Justin Hawkins had a throat infection.
Then again if they do have to pull out organisers could always turn to Diff’rent Darkness. Yep, just to prove things move fast in the music world these days there is already a Darkness tribute band. Diff’rent Darkness, from the people who brought you Diff’rent Strokes and Diff’rent Stripes, are releasing a cover of ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ for the Christmas market, hoping to come in just behind The Darkness’ own festive number of the Christmas chart. The tribute single is out on 15 Dec via Guided Missile Records.
