Godzilla Remake Coming in May 2014

Godzilla_1SHT_Teaser_ONLINE_DOM_RGB[1]Will this be a smart Godzilla movie?

Judging from the trailer, the remake will offer the obligatory level of eye candy, possibly surpassing fan expectations, but given the apparent focus of the trailer on the ordinary people caught up in the wake of unimaginable destruction, there may be here more than the canned human interest plot often found in high effects, high concept visual extravaganzas. We can hope.

The trailer’s opening beats are certainly heart-stopping-extraordinary and visually stunning. We see American heroes jump into Apocalypse territory, like falling stars against a blackness of an American city burning to take on Godzilla.

Even if the human stories underwhelm, the worst part of this movie is surely going to be the wait to see it.
