Glee came back yesterday, April 19, with guests Gwyneth Paltrow as Holly Holliday, Cheyenne Jackson as Vocal Adrenaline coach Dustin Goolsby, and of course, the pride of the Philippines, Charice, as Sunshine Corazon.
On the next episode, entitled “A Night of Neglect,” the kids of Glee Club help out another club of “outsiders” from McKinley High by mounting a show for them. As usual, Sue Sylvester is not too happy about this partnership that she rounds up her minions, Terri, Will’s ex-wife; Sandy Ryerson, former Glee Club coach; and Dustin Goolsby. As Sue’s “League of Doom,” they try their best to sabotage the efforts of the Glee Club.
They released four single tracks on this episode:
“Ain’t No Way” – Amber Riley (as Mercedes Jones) sang a soulful rendition of this song by legend Aretha Franklin. In this single, Amber shows, as usual, her prowess with her powerful vocals.
“All By Myself” – Charice (as Sunshine Corazon) performed her “favorite song” in front of the Glee club, which raised suspicion that she may be a spy from Vocal Adrenaline. She belts out a powerful take on this Eric Carmen classic that Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele, should be threatened by even more.
“I’ll Follow You” – Jenna Ushkowitz (as Tina Cohen) rarely does a solo. In this single, however, she sang the sultry 2011 single by Swedish recording artist, Lykke Li.
“Turning Tables” – Gwyneth Paltrow (as Holly Holliday) gave an emotional take on this song from popular singer-songwriter Adele’s hit new album, 21. Ms. Holliday sings her heart out with a simple piano accompaniment that accentuates the superb lyricism and emotion of the song.
