Slunt
The Underground
London
29 June 2005

Slunt’s awesome debut album has not been released in the UK yet (it comes out on Monday) but there was a healthy crowd to see Slunt impressive live show. After a succesful Download apperance many in the audience are bringing their friends along to see what is up. I had the pleasure of chatting to them backstage before and after the show. The band kindly invited me to come to their show on Friday as well, the last of this current UK tour. Even better, and this is a first for me, they actually played the bonus track from their album ‘My Cat is a Fag’ as an encore, at my request (it is not always in their set). They blasted through many of tracks on their debut including ‘HAWG’ and a scorching version of Romeo Void’s ‘Never Say Never’. This was a damn impressive high energy gig from a band with a bloody good debut. Abby does the business as a front-woman and has the crowd eating out of her hand. Pat Harrington, lead guitarist, does the fag in mouth guitar god thing with absolute aplomb. And naturally he makes it look so freaking easy. So moved were the audience that two seperate people bought the band a round of whiskys. They do a wonderful line is sleazy cool and deliver the goods. You have heard me say this before…see this lot before they hit the big time…trust me.
