I think it was George Bernard Shaw who said: “Journalism is the publication of facts that somebody wants suppressed. Everything else is public relations.”

Is that the exact quote? Was it Shaw who said it?

    It was William Randolph Hearst, apparently. Orwell is credited with “Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed: everything else is public relations.”
